SASKATCHEWAN

March 1st, 2004
Child Care – A Brighter Future is a provincial initiative launched and supported by a coalition of associations across the province: Saskatchewan Early Childhood Association (SECA), Day Care Directors Inc., Saskatoon, and the Association of Saskatchewan Family Child Care Homes, Prince Albert Child Care Directors Association, and the Saskatchewan Early Childhood Directors Association, Regina. A provincial coalition is mobilizing parents, boards of directors, staff and family home providers in the province to speak with a united voice regarding quality of care, affordability and availability.

The initiative brings attention to critical issues in Saskatchewan’s licensed childcare sector, issues of affordability, availability and quality. These same issues are high on the Federal Government agenda as indicated in the speech from the throne. “In co-operation with the Provinces and territories, the Government will accelerate initiatives under the existing Multilateral Framework agreement for Early Learning and Child Care, which means more quality child care more quickly.”
